About Origami Buffalo

My name is Scott Herman and I love folding paper. There… I’ve finally admitted to it. Ever since I was a kid, I have always enjoyed the feeling of getting lost in folds of paper. If I am holding a ticket stub while I watch a movie, it ends up becoming a paper crane in a matter of a few minutes.

By trade, I am a web designer. You can read more about my primary business at www.webeditor.com. I also do portraits and photo restoration work.

For years people have been telling me that I should sell my work, but I never saw a reasonable path to do that. Finally, a burst of lightning came from the sky and I heard a deep booming voice that said, “YOU MUST SELL LITTLE BUFFALOES MADE FROM PAPER!” Not really… I thought of it in the shower.

Anyway, I remembered this great design from John Montroll, for an origami Bison. I e-mailed him and asked if I could sell it with attribution to him and he said, “Yes.” John, you are awesome! I love your books! You are an inspiration to me.

I have altered his base design a bit. The legs, horns and beard are a bit different from his original design, but it still uses the Montroll Dog Base as found in his book, “Origami Sculptures” published in 1990.

I hope you enjoy owning my creations as much as I enjoyed folding them.
